Jade has played a central role in Chinese culture for over 5,000 years. In the Neolithic period, jade was used for tools, weapons, and ritual objects. During the Shang dynasty, jade became associated with royalty. Confucius established jade as a symbol of six virtues: benevolence, righteousness, wisdom, courage, cleanliness, and sincerity. The Han dynasty saw jade burial suits for emperors. Today, jade remains a symbol of Chinese identity, worn as jewelry, displayed as art, and collected as investment.
